Our client is seeking to recruit, an experienced, hands-on Paint Booth Supervisor / Manager to lead our wet paint operation based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester.

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing two industrial wet paint booths, managing workflow, maintaining high-quality standards, and leading a team of painters and support staff.

The successful candidate will be an experienced industrial wet paint professional with a strong understanding of coating systems, paint application equipment, inspection standards, and production management. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to lead by example and provide technical support to the team when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of two industrial wet paint booths.
  • Lead, organise and support the wet paint team to ensure production and delivery targets are achieved.
  • Manage workflow and prioritise jobs in line with customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Monitor quality throughout the painting process and ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company standards.
  • Identify and address coating defects, quality concerns and rework requirements.
  • Ensure correct paint systems, colours, finishes and application techniques are used.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and organisation within the paint department.
  • Monitor paint and consumable usage and help minimise waste.
  • Ensure paint equipment, spray guns, pumps and associated machinery are maintained and used correctly.
  • Complete and oversee relevant production, quality and inspection documentation.
  • Train, mentor and develop members of the paint team.
  • Work closely with production, quality and management teams to ensure work progresses efficiently through the facility.
  • Promote and enforce Health & Safety, COSHH and environmental procedures.
  • Take ownership of quality standards and have the confidence to challenge or stop work where standards do not meet customer or company requirements.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in industrial wet paint spraying within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience within a coating, painting or manufacturing operation.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Conventional pot gun application
  • Airless spray systems
  • Air-assisted airless spray systems
  • 2K plural component spray equipment
  • Excellent understanding of industrial paint systems and coating specifications.
  • Experience managing multiple paint booths and coordinating workloads.
  • Strong knowledge of paint preparation, mixing, application and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to inspect finished products and identify coating defects and non-conformances.
  • Good understanding of surface preparation processes, including shot blasting operations, blast profiles and cleanliness standards, and their impact on coating performance.
  • Strong understanding of quality requirements within an industrial coating’s environment.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop a team while maintaining high-performance standards.

Desirable

  • Experience within industrial coatings, protective coatings, heavy engineering, fabrication or structural steel environments.
  • Knowledge of coating inspection requirements and customer specifications.
  • Experience working with high-build epoxy, polyurethane and specialist industrial coating systems.
  • Relevant supervisory, coatings or inspection qualifications.
  • Experience training and developing paint operatives.

Working Hours

  • Day shift
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Typically, 6:00am to 2:00pm
  • Flexibility required to support operational demands where necessary.

Salary
