LAB / PRODUCTION OPERATIVE - Tameside (LTJN)
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join a very busy manufacturing company based in Dukinfield.
Role Purpose:
The Assistant Laboratory Technician supports the daily operation of the Quality Control (QC) laboratory, ensuring that all products manufactured meet the required customer and internal specifications. The role involves conducting routine QC tests, preparing reports, communicating results to customers, and working closely with production supervision to maintain product conformity. The position may also provide operational cover for development technicians or process operatives when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring manufactured product is released to the specified requirements.
- Using different equipment and standard operating procedures to carry out routine testing.
Quality Control Testing:
- Carry out routine QC testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Accurately record, analyse, and interpret test data to determine product conformity.
- Perform basic adjustments to product formulations or processes as agreed with the Laboratory Management.
. Releasing finished product to the despatch team if all aspects of the control plan meet specification
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure calibration checks are completed as required.
Reporting & Communication
- Compile QC reports and send results to customers promptly and professionally.
- Escalate non-conformances or trends indicating potential quality issues to the Laboratory Management.
Maintain clear, accurate, and organized laboratory records and documentation.
Production Support
- Work closely with Production Supervisors to ensure consistent quality on the shop floor.
- Provide timely feedback on sample results to avoid delays in manufacturing.
- Support root-cause investigations into quality issues and contribute to corrective or preventative actions.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment (QC experience preferred).
- Ability to follow technical procedures and accurately record data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word, email).
- Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and other departments.
Hours – 06:15 – 18:30 Monday-Thursday. Willing to work nights if required 18:15 – 06:30
