BLUE MONDAY BECOMES “BREW” MONDAY FOR THE BENNETT’S TEAM!
Blue Monday becomes ‘BREW’ Monday for the Bennett’s team!
Monday the 20th January is known as ‘Blue Monday’ and here at Bennett’s we are taking the opportunity to do something positive for all our team who remain the cornerstone of our business.
Blue Monday is often referred to as the most depressing day of the year, typically falling on the third Monday of January. The concept was popularised by a British travel company in 2005, claiming that a combination of factors—such as weather, post-holiday blues, and financial stress—contributes to feelings of sadness or low mood on this day. While it’s important to note that the idea is not scientifically proven, many people do find January to be a challenging month due to the cold weather and the aftermath of the holiday season. It’s a good reminder to take care of your mental health during this time!
The Bennett’s Staff ‘Brew Monday’, created by our Operations Director, Robbie, will allow all our staff to enjoy a brew and cake whilst taking a break and chatting with colleagues. Taking a break while at work and talking to colleagues has several benefits. It can help reduce stress, improve mood, and increase productivity. Engaging in casual conversations can foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork, making the workplace more enjoyable. Additionally, stepping away from tasks for a bit can provide a fresh perspective when you return, leading to better problem-solving and creativity. Overall, these breaks can enhance both mental well-being and work performance!
Raising awareness about Blue Monday is important because it highlights the mental health struggles that many people face during the winter months. By bringing attention to this issue, it encourages open conversations about mental health, reduces stigma, and promotes understanding and support for those who may be feeling down or struggling. It also serves as a reminder to check in on friends and loved ones, fostering a sense of community and support during a time that can be particularly tough for many.
So, what are you doing to help improve ‘Blue Monday’ to lift your spirits and combat the winter blues? We’ve come up with some useful ideas for you to try.
